Course Description

This course introduces students to the principles of design thinking and graphic design, using Canva as a tool to create impactful visual projects. Through real-world scenarios, students learn to design posters, app interfaces, product packaging, and promotional materials, while exploring concepts like user-centered design, color theory, and prototyping.

Curriculum Outline 

Lesson 1: Effects of Littering

Design posters and infographics to raise awareness about littering, practicing basic design thinking and graphic design concepts.

Lesson 2: Tracking Assignments App Design

Create a user-friendly interface for a homework tracking app, focusing on user-centric design and functionality.

Lesson 3: Eco-friendly Product Campaign

Develop a campaign for an eco-friendly product, designing packaging, logos, and advertisements with attention to typography and visual hierarchy.

Lesson 4: Virtual Art Exhibition

Design a virtual art exhibit layout, incorporating color theory, and practicing feedback and collaboration skills.

Lesson 5: Healthy Eating Campaign

Create a campaign to promote healthy eating, designing posters and recipe cards while learning about testing and iterating on designs.

Lesson 6: School Event Planning

Design promotional materials for a school event, experimenting with Canva’s tools to create engaging tickets, banners, and programs.
